Shawn Smith

Shawn is a native of Charlotte, NC, and joins us with over 28 years in professional sports business, sales, and marketing experience.

Over a 25-year stretch, he served fifteen of those years in the Boston Red Sox organization (including two World Series Championships, 2004 and 2018) in a variety of roles where he most recently worked on key business and baseball development projects. During a nearly a ten-year hiatus from baseball, Shawn worked for the National Basketball Association (NBA) in two key roles. For seven years he was the Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer of the NBA Development League (now Gatorade League, the official minor league system of the NBA) and over two years as a Vice President in the NBA's lauded Team Marketing and Business Operations (TMBO). Earlier in his career he served as team President and/or General Manager of minor league teams within Toronto Blue Jays and Houston Astros organizations.

He earned his master’s degree from Syracuse University’s prestigious Newhouse School and received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University. Shawn was inducted into Syracuse University's Newhouse Professional Gallery in 2012 and the Providence Day (Charlotte, NC) High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 but is most proud of the four years (2016-2019) where he worked side-by-side with his daughters while part of the Red Sox organization in Lowell, MA.
